Zed Bias arrives on vital UK label Swamp 81 for a full length on which he declares himself ‘Boss’, with MC Chunky and Roy Davis Jr as guests. The album sees Bias add elements of classic Swamp 81 productions, such as Addison Groove’s ‘Footcrab’, to the twisted 2-step sound he pioneered in the ‘90s. ‘Eingang’ pits incessant footwork vocals against a more luxurious house/garage backdrop, while ‘Tug’ is a deranged 2-stepper with squelching bass stabs and war washes of Actress-esque synths. ‘We’re There’ is the highlight though, with sample of Chunky’s vocals becoming sultry within the blunted house framework that Bias makes his own.
