JPEGMAFIA is back in the saddle once again with I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU, his fifth solo LP. Bursting with negative energy and fury since his 2023 collab with Danny Brown, LAY DOWN finds the Baltimore-bred rapper returning to the blistering sonics and wrathful social commentary of his internet-fluent modus operandi. Peggy makes the few guest turns at the mic shine here by bending his will to fit the likes of Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, and Buzzy Lee, but the album may hit hardest when he gives himself space to kick up a real racket, like on ‘don’t rely on other men’.
