The multitalented Berlin via St. Petersburg artist Perila returns to Smalltown Supersound with her largest yet most microscopically focussed work yet. Intrinsic Rhythm is a double album of texturally explorative vignettes, shifting from spectrally fluctuating ambience to abstract clattere of ritualistic gongs and drumming, joined by a wash of vocals calling and whispering at distance. Perila renders the barrier between internal and external landscapes more permeable, merging the crackling rainforest resonance of electronic creatures rustling and chirping with trickling susurrations of sparks and shearing ambient arcs, blurring field recording into human made sound.
