‘70s Brit post-punk band Bauhaus may have bowed out after ‘Go Away White’ in 2008, but this cleaned-up collection of their pummelling 7”s shows how hard they rocked during the Callaghan years. On ‘Poison Pen’ they turn scratchy guitars and drum blasts into a voodoo rock track, while ‘Third Rock’s synth-edged prog-rock is like The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy titles on fast forward. It seems it wasn’t just The Jam who influenced so many angular noughties guitar bands.
