Drag City returns to the Smog/Bill Callahan vault yet again for another live release, this time pulling from a fan-favourite December 2001 BBC session with the legendary John Peel. Remarking upon the day some 20 something odd years later, Callahan called it a sort of culture clash: the BBC with their buttoned up British professionalism versus Smog and their distinctly haunted Americana. The end result however is a marvellous document of the group in one of their headiest phases, and you can check the loose-but-hard-charging take on ‘Cold Discovery’ for proof of purpose.
