The Orb have maintained such a heavy clip of albums and releases in over thirty years that even Alex Paterson can’t keep up with them. As such, Orboretum provides a bird’s eye view of the group’s everchanging seasons in dance music, electronic, dub, ambient, and much, much more. Across the full gamut of their discography are twittering collages of glitchy maximalism, sizzling dubwise techno, and bass heavy breakbeat fuelled rap, as well as collaborations with the likes of Belka & Strelka funkifying their bouncing, trampolining four to the floors, Lee “Scratch” Perry contributing lush and cheeky vocals, and Violeta Vicci’s emphatic and cathartic orchestrations soaring above natural landscapes.
