After EP releases for Border Community, Traum Schallplatten and In Paradisum, 'Treillis' marks Ricardo Tobar's arrival in all of its long play glory. Filtered through his hometown of Vina del Mar in Chile via Paris, it's a debut inspired by "mysticism, noise and esotericism," combining melodic techno, electro and modern shoegaze to impressively unsettling effect. A set of distortion and dissonance, melancholy, deep textures and blossoming melodies, 'Treillis' shifts from the ambient grind of 'Garden', through the shuffling rhythm and synth explosion of 'Hundreds. Flick the switch and 'Otte's Denial' drags you across rough n ready frequencies and ragged percussion, 'Straight Line in the Water' powers through the buzzsaw hiss and distortion and 'Mirrors' plunges you into a spectral abyss without missing a beat.
