Following the ‘Music for Objects’ and ‘Excercises’ EPs, Montreal producer CFCF arrives with his first LP since 2009’s ‘Continent’, on London-based Dummy Records. Citing Peter Gabriel and long train journeys as inspiration, the album combines environmental sounds with lilting synthetic melodies and the producer’s occasional vocals to produce something charming. ‘Walking in the Dust’ sounds like a memory of Phil Collins’ ‘Through These Walls’, while ‘Find’ is full of the lulling synths that characterise Oneohtrix Point Never’s early cassettes. For those with a penchant for heart on sleeve nostalgia, this will be a delight.
