Eccentric beat-maker Joe returns to the great Hessle Audio with a deadly new single. A-side ‘Slope’ is the stuff that dance-floor dreams are made of, matching the rippling rhythms which made previous tracks like ‘Claptrap’ so infectious with slippery drones reminiscent of Russell Haswell, occasionally allowing the elements to slide into more conventional lush sustained house before once again toppling away. ‘Maximum Busy Muscle’ is packed full of clattering, destroyed drums and machine belches, completing a strange and compelling 12-inch which nonetheless will do the business in the club.
