Picking up the epic sense of scale that he left off with 2007's Cosmos, Murcof unveils his first solo studio album in almost two decades. In that time, he has embarked on numerous collaborations and soundtracks, informing the grand multimedia scope of Twin Color, Vol. 1. Born from audiovisual performances, the album lends itself to rich imagery: churning bass frequencies that synths like falling stars drown in, simmering drum machine swishes lost in swirling storms, guttural growls torpedoing from side to side. These tracks are space operas of brazen tones, eerie sci fi atmospheres, and inky yet scintillating synth compositions.
