Knitting Factory Records’ reissuing of Fela Kuti’s back catalogue, almost in its entirety, has given a sense of the scope and vision of the Afrobeat legend’s work and its enduring impact. ‘Live in Amsterdam’ was originally released in 1983 on Barclay Records, and gives a sense of the man’s incendiary live show in full swing, capturing him in an even more extrovert mode than on his studio recordings.
