On ‘Together’, the second EP from Northern Irishman Ejeca for label Needwant, a mix of UK-garage and classic house and techno tropes marry convincingly. Lead single ‘Together’ goes for the jugular, pitting spaced-out chipmunk garage vocals against full throttle house pianos recalling Derrick May’s ‘Strings of Life’, while Terrence Parker subtly beefs up the original on his ‘Motor City Soul Mix’. ‘Horizon’, in its revised ‘Night Edit’ form, combines a rougher percussion jack with similar garage staples, but elegiac closer ‘Forest’ is the pick of the bunch, where the shuffling, skeletal remnants of previous tracks draw you in seductively.
