Luke Slater returns to the venerable Ostgut Ton under the L.B Dub Corp alias after the intriguing ‘Take it Down (In Dub)’ 12-inch from 2010. ‘Turner’s House’ collects three choice cuts from forthcoming LP ‘Unknown Origin’ which showcase the album’s full range. Whereas Slater’s work under the name ‘Planetary Assault Systems’ tends towards the kind of obsessive, minimal techno one might expect from label mate Marcel Dettmann, the three tracks collected here feel more exuberant, inflected with rippling bongos and African vocal chants. ‘Turner’s House’ and ‘Nearly Africa Dub’ sound like a cleaner, less dread-inducing Shackleton, while ‘I Have A Dream’ sees the guest appearance of British poet Benjamin Zephaniah, whose playful take on Martin Luther King’s iconic speech alludes to the political potency of the dub music from which Slater takes his influence.
