Off the back of releases from Myler and Unklone, head honcho Hound Scales presents the latest work on his Fifth Wall label. The A-side contains two new cuts of endless Berlin techno with a rough and atmospheric sound that recreates the hazy grandeur of clubbing experiences in cavernous spaces. ‘A Clique of Tough Women’ injects a strangely submerged sample of what might be distant folk winds into the Berghain techno palette to unnerving effect, while ‘Throated’ corrupts swelling synthetic chords with layers or torn up distortion and reverb to make it much more than your average banger. Combined on the B-side with strong remixes from the 10 label’s Yuji Kondo and Opal Tapes affiliate Bleaching Agent, this is a must for emotive industrial techno fans.
