Like a certain other Cornish electronic producer Luke Vibert is a blind-buy, and this third helping of his “nuggets” casts no doubts over the quality of his record collection. Mining the archives of library music label Bruton, Vibert gathers gems that only the most hardened trainspotters might have encountered: heroic, Shaft-like funk on Jeremy Lubbock’s ‘Speedbird’; the precursor to electro on James Asher’s ‘Scratch City’ and one for The Long Good Friday fans: ‘70s thriller jazz from film composer Francis Monkman.
