On the first of two new remix 12”s, Darkstar rework choice takes from their 2013 LP ‘News From Nowhere’ alongside guest Motor City Drum Ensemble. Darkstar’s two takes are typically idiosyncratic exponents of the tropes of synthetic European dance music, neatly summarised in the EP’s title, which is the dial code for small British town Huddersfield. ‘Armonica’ is an extended house-burner made from the mix of faded drums and burnt out synths that are reminiscent of Mount Kimbie’s recent LP on Warp, while ‘Young Hearts’ slightly ups the tempo to create a less introverted take on the pop outfit’s material which is ready for the dancefloor. German artist Motor City Drum Ensemble riffs upon the record’s blunted house/techno sound further with the addition of cascading minor organ bubbles reminiscent of Zomby, who, reportedly, will feature on the next remix 12”.
