4 Hero’s Mark Clair used the Manix alias to put out operatic breakbeat and jungle track in the ‘90s. 20 years later he’s finally got an album together featuring new material which opens a portal to some shuddering Major-years warehouse. ‘One More Time’ blows Daft Punk out of the water with hardcore beats, serene strings and yelping vocal samples; ‘Rave Fantasy’ takes uplifting piano and lashes it to a breakneck drum line. Like Zomby’s ‘Where Were U In 92’ this is a fast-acting hypo of nostalgia.
