The story of power electronic group Ramleh’s 1987 LP Hole in the Heart is far from linear. Originally composed as a four-song tribute to the late writer Jean Genet by Ramleh’s sole remaining member Gary Mundy, the cassette-only release went largely unnoticed by fans due to its calmer nature in comparison to prior Ramleh releases, effectively ending the band’s stint in the public eye. Mundy stuck with the project though, eventually adding a six part accompanying piece entitled Redcap and then a third tape called Pumping. Over time these seemingly disparate sessions gained serious word-of-mouth notoriety online, eventually becoming one of the most highly rated records of 1987 on Rate Your Music. In tribute to this resilient collection of music, Dirter Promotions has sequenced them all on vinyl together for the very first time.
