Morphosis, the most prominent act on Berlin label Morphine, has reworked Charles Cohen’s ‘Dance of the Spiritcatchers’ into two giant cuts of electronica. Side A exhibits an ominous cycle of bleeps made from old analogue computers, the stuff of vintage sci-fi horrors, while on side B, the same noises are set to a deep, murky dub beat, reminding us it’s possible to crunch up the past and turn it into something futuristic.
