Guatemalan experimental cellist/vocalist Mabe Fratti returns to the Unheard Of Hope label for a new solo LP entitled Sentir Que No Sabes. Fratti and her partner Héctor Tosta were flanked by a drummer and a trumpeter on this go around, which speaks to the more fluid movement and altogether more infectious nature of No Sabes. While still plenty heady in nature, Fratti also works some pop sensibilities into the mix here, especially on tracks like ‘Pantalla azul’ which recalls UK new wave and the weeping strings of ‘Oidos’ which could stand toe-to-toe with so much contemporary downtempo pop music.
