Since releasing his first solo album in 2020, Tindersticks member David Boulter has been eager to create even more music under his own name. After soundtracks, EPs, and adventures in spoken word, Boulter returns with his first LP for Clay Pipe Music in four years, and perhaps his most personal one. St Ann’s follows memories of Boulter’s childhood home, its demolition, and rebirth. Joyous children’s song opens the album, playground sounds dissolving into the wistful yet hopeful ambience of guitar and double bass plucks, while an easygoing rhythm underlines bright eyed vibraphones, fluttering synth arpeggios, and high flying strings on ‘The Arboretum’.
