Sote AKA Ata Ebtekar is completely melting minds with his second album of 2024. Responding to Iannis Xenakis's iconic 1971 performance, Sound System Persepolis is synthetic abstraction in constant reconfiguration. From serrated swarms and surging streams of electricity to futuristic stabs and metallic clangs in a matter of seconds, these tracks morph and twist to the beat of a heaving, otherworldly club rhythm. ‘JNGLGHRSSPXHYRCANIA’ rages with a driving throb till it tears itself apart, and ‘WVTADTSSPXDAMAVAND’ pulsates with hyper tactile arpeggiated plucks in an expert display of sound design.
