Strut Records presents a deluxe box set of its enormously successful Next Stop Soweto series, bringing together volumes one, two and three. Compiled through diligent and careful selection, the collection accurately captures the rich and vibrant music scene in South Africa’s Soweto district in the time of Apartheid. Volume one draws on the colourful township jive that is infused with particles of jazz, funk and gospel. Volume two sees a greater influence of R&B, soul and early disco coming directly from South Africa’s Soul Town scene with volume three rounding off the collection with pieces from South Africa’s most respected Jazz musicians who were staples in the country's live scene between the early 60’s to late 80’s.
