White noise expert Louis Johnstone makes his debut for Where To Now in typically murky style. ‘Masculinity’ continues the eerie soundscapes he created with his five tapes last year: ‘We Held Our Balance’ is a tower of feedback with an organ chord in the lower depths; ‘Gorgeous Lucio’ is even harsher, like a dog whistle blown into a gale-force wind. Apparently inspired by his dad and granddad, Father’s Day at the Johnstones’ must have been a strain.
