American composer/producer Robert Aiki Aubrey Lower puts aside his Lichens moniker for this score to Yance Ford’s Netflix film Power. Released in partnership with Invada Records, Aubrey Lowe’s stunning work here calls to mind the brutal nature of American policing, as well as the insidious abuses of power and transfer of money by the government to maintain its order. Some of the more stirring sounds here (like on the two part ‘Radical Fear’) are generated from little more than some languid strings and lots of digital delay, though the more robust movements also point to Aubrey Lowe’s masterful playing and arranging.
