Straight-up electro-tinged house from Berlin-based Marquis Hawkes on Glasgow's Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, four tracks of raw dance-floor business. 'Housing Project' belies any notions of public service by throwing off political ties, instead opting to get down and dirty. 'Marvin' runs off a lead riff so laced with hypnotic reverb it'll run right through you. The EBM-like swagger of 'Teetotal Acid' throws an acid line over harsh kicks, chopped vocal drops breaking up this minimalistic approach. 'Sealion Woman' closes the record with an utter recontextualising of that familiar vocal over relentless techno kicks.
