Genres
Japanese noise figurehead Merzbow makes his debut on the No Holiday label with a new LP entitled Circular Reference. As with anything Merzbow, harsh, enveloping synthesizer racket and shrieking feedback are the bedrock here, but it's not all tumult and roar. Patches of soothing (at least by his standard) ambience and subtle kicks guide some of the gentler moments on the second disc of the 2xLP, adding some well-earned variety from a master of the form.
