Belgium’s Dynooo has been quiet since his debut LP on Surf Kill, but relocating to south London has brought a welcome shift in his sound. This sophomore release ‘Mesh N2 Air’ on Astro:Dynamics is awash with dense atmospherics deeper than the ocean. Opener “SLAZ NGGR” sets the tone with euphoric synths, snaps and considered flutters of sub-bass, paving the way perfectly for “Gel Lite” a dreamy, musing slice of electronica. “Body God” dives deeper, hinting at a drum patterns, utterly devouring the listener into a meditative yet somewhat uneasy mood. Dynooo then provokes with “Imprzz”, almost carving out a danceable beat, although maintaining abstract enough patterns to keep things off kilter. Norwegian-born contemporary artist turned sound designer offers his take on “08”, building a thick melody, drenched in heavy ambiance in closing an engrossing LP. Fans of London’s popular Tri-Angle imprint take note as Vessel offers mastering duties on what looks set to be a stand out album of 2013.
