German label Running Back have unearthed a real rarity here: the one and only release from Londoner Hugh Mane, a four-track EP of vintage analogue house. ‘Back Life’ is a straight-up assault of rigid 4/4 beats; ‘My Midi is a Mess’ flexes brutal but succulent bass slabs; ‘Hard to Finish If You’re Finish’ loops ‘80s pop synths till they get dizzy and ‘Fukdemdiscoidkids’ combines keyboards and strings into a floor-ready film soundtrack. Timeless stuff.
