Shackleton has been on a consitant roll the past few years with a clip of highly regarded collaborative albums that both hold a distinct Shackleton sound, while being constantly innovative and unpredictable. Holy Tongue - the elite trio composed of Valentina Magaletti, Al Wootton and Susumu Mukai - meanwhile have recently cemented their primal dub abstractions on their 2023 debut album.

As such, The Tumbling Psychic Joy Of Now is a perfect crossing of likeminded and intoxicating psychedelic dub sensibilities. Organic drums are awash with splashes of delay, amidst stormy arrangements infused with skittering jazz percussion, woozy chorused vocals, and flaming guitar licks. ‘Blessing and Bewildered’ rolls with punching drums, glossed by vibraphones and sub bass giving the track a tropical drive, while ritual stomps, sharp zither plucks, and winds howl throughout ‘Gravity Will Fail Us’.

An inspiring pairing of all involved, culminating on the ever impressive AD 93 institution. Killer stuff.
