Vintage hardware lovers Patricia Hall and Ian Hicks received a warm welcome from the analogue synth world for their 2011 debut album. This brisk, melodic and beat-savvy sequel proves that they weren’t just a one-off. ‘Lenses’ makes brilliant use of Hall’s waif-like voice, with the moaning and 8-bit bass of ‘On A Cloud’ sounding like Sade playing Asteroids, and ‘When I Look Into Your Eyes’ colliding ‘80s lounge pop with John Carpenter soundtracks.
