Producer, rapper and all round polymath Tricky has a come a long way since his Mercury nomination in 1996: he’s toured the world, supported Beyoncé and now gone back to his original formula for album #10: forget the rulebook, do what buzzes him. The result is a varied but sophisticated LP, moving from piano-driven falsetto pop on ‘Nothing Matters’ to twee folk on ‘Chinese Interlude’. The man himself may take more of lyrical backseat but his craftsmanship is everywhere on this one, and it sounds suitably immense.
