The undeniable power trio made up of Jim O’Rourke, Oren Ambarchi and Keiji Haino follow on from last year’s ‘Imikizushi’ with their fourth collaborative release, ‘Now While it’s Still Warm Let us Pour in all the Mystery’. While previous releases touched on sprawling, extended performances, here the music is presented in six shorter pieces, each and every one representing a different side to the trio. Moving from probing rhythms to stark, near-silent minimalism - no doubt encouraged by Haino’s development of traditional Japanese aesthetics - and crushing free rock, the album represents perhaps one of their most accessible recordings, exuding the strength and range of a distinguished trio.
