Steel city dweller Walter Ego makes his second innings on Girls Music, following a string of releases on Senseless Records, Unknown to the Unknown, and his own Bad Taste Records. On this EP he shows off that stellar fusion of grime and garage that got him noticed in 2012 – the title cut is a ghettoed out, dank basslined affair. ‘Augment’ makes use of south Asian drumming tropes and tribal touches while ‘UK’ pays homage to funky with dangerously low frequencies.
