Two years on from her Not Not Fun debut, Maria Minerva’s woozy charm is still intact, emitting flashes of sparkle once again for the 100% Silk label. Her touch is as primitive and DIY as ever, most resplendent on opening track ‘Black Magick’, as well as the soul-inflected swing of ‘Space 4 U’, the Afro-Latin disco number ‘Symbol of my Pleasure (Form of my Pain)’ replete with signature delayed vocals, and the deliriously lo-fi ‘Soul Searchin’. For those after an energy shot, Lady Blacktronika gets to grips with ‘Black Magick’, turning it into a smokey club groove.
