Alex Lloyd’s third EP for Ninja Tune continues the sound he’s established over the past two years: woodblock beats, fuzzy arpeggios and echoing ethereal voices. ‘Skinless’ comes in two parts, the first made of trembling strings, piano chords, Lloyd’s dreamy falsetto and a killer 8-bit drop. It gets even more beautiful on the calmer part two, while B-sides ‘Heartbeats’ and ‘An Exit’ mix classical strings and instrumental piano. Anthemic stuff.
