Squarepusher, Warp Records and Bleep.com are delighted to announce the winner of the '4001 Remix Competition'. Since the contest was launched in March more then 3,300 people have downloaded the stems to '4001', the opening track off Squarepushers' most recent album 'Ufabulum', with several hundred finished remixes submitted.
Finally though, after much deliberation, Tom Jenkinson has picked his favourite, a high octane pitched up remix by Swiss producer Bacalao…
The winning entry will now be hosted on Squarepusher's official YouTube channel and the winner will receive a limited edition vinyl boxed set of 'Ufabulum' and a pair of AIAIAI TMA-1 Studio headphones.
Squarepusher had these words to say:
"Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, the response has been overwhelming. Had I known it would generate this much good music representing such a varied range of approaches, I'd have abandoned the concept of having a single winner. However, that was the basis of the competition, so a winner it must have...
I didn't have a criteria in mind, I just checked them all out as I would any other music. In the end, the Bacalao remix won because it was a proper rollercoaster ride and put a big smile on my face! There were many other favourites, the Pyrate and Yoshimitsu Tsunaki remixes also stood out and are indicative of the variety and high standard of the entries. Overall, big up to everyone, it's been emotional. Tom.”
