After well-received single ‘Mediations on Afrocentrism’, Londoner Romare is back with another four tracks of moody, percussion-led exotica. ‘Your Love (You Give Me Fever)’ connects keyboards, vocal offcuts, climbing chords and a footwork beat, while ‘Taste of Honey (From the City)’ plays inner city breaks on a transistor radio, hissing and relentless. Whichever direction the Black Acre label point him in, Romare seems to come out on top.
