Trunk Records present a digital reissue of Daphne Oram’s first and only solo vinyl release ‘Electronic Sound Patterns’, originally released as part of the BBC’s ‘Listen, Move and Dance series’ in 1962. With that uniquely British quality for old fashioned spook and spectre that the BBC did so well, Oram approaches her original material with stimulating verve. Sound patterns come intended to encourage children listeners to involve themselves in imaginative dance, not realising that these beguiling electronic rhythms and forms present themselves as the foundations of a completely different form of imaginative dance.
