Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber turn dark for their fifth LP - possibly the darkest they’ve been in two decades of making downtempo electronic dream-pop. Gloomy on the surface but still scaling the avant garde highs they’re known for, tracks like ‘Cavallo’ set post-rock guitars to a keyboard beat, while ‘Heatwave’ layers jazzy bass and flutes over regretful male vocals. Rainy grey cityscapes have rarely sound cooler.
