Capturing the neo-classical artist, Harold Budd, at his most pure and unadulterated, ‘In the Mist’ is a raw and emotive piece of stunning minimalism. As a concept-based piece of material, the album is divided into three distinct movements, where tracks 1-5 describe ‘The Whispers’, or minimalist, tonal piano compositions, tracks 6-8 are ‘The Gun Fighters’, drawing more dramatic piano compositions alongside sparse electronic effects and percussive detail, and finally tracks 9-13 portray ‘The Shadows’, a series of new string quartets with often abstract, minimal and moody leanings.
