Geir Jenssen with a collection of Biosphere rarities here. The Norwegian ambient trailblazer has combed the catalogues and put together this collection of tracks he produced for various compilations throughout the 90s and early 2000s. Given that the music here was combed from such a wide variety of sources and spans such a long length of time, it’s no surprise that the album is sonically diverse. As well as the expected wedges of arctic techno and grainy ambient-concrete, we also get Jan Jelinek-style loops (‘When I Leave (Version)’), cafe electronica (‘Reef’) and muted junglism (‘Hypnophone’). All in all, this compilation provides a fascinating insight into the process of one of electronic music’s more influential voices.
