Theo Parrish and Maurissa Rose are both veterans of the Detroit scene, having collaborated on a select few singles since 2019. Now they present a full album together of luscious, meditative loops and smooth vocal explorations. Free Myself is another of Parrish’s signature deep house productions with a lofi flair, seeing Rose release a soulful stream of consciousness over these extended cuts. The tone is woozy with her wispy sighs, shown best in ‘Purify Me’ with crisp, strutting rhythms, jazzy brass beeps, and synths twinkling like wind chimes.
