The Detroit noise collective Wolf Eyes give you rare access to their creative practice in a way that few, if any, groups have ever done before. Wolf Eyes are also the type of group where their live and improvisational material weigh just as much as their more formalised recordings, or at the very least, they inspire the sort of fandom that weighs them equally. As such, oddities like this live recording from a show with the band Spykes in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the fall of 2000 can be viewed (from the right vantage point) not only as a rare document of a fertile time for the group, but also a skeleton key for where Wolf Eyes would go moving forward. W/ Spykes is also among the first appearances for electronics/keys player John Olson who would quickly join the group in the wake of this performance.
