Californian producer/composer and Auxiliary label head ASC lands on the unstoppable Over/Shadow for a new full length of expertly crafted, atmospheric drum and bass entitled The Depths Of Space. That title is no misnomer, ASC employs plenty of depth here, suggesting some unknown or unattainable sonic heaven just beyond the horizon. ‘Vapour Trails’ though sadly not a Ride cover does go for a similarly overwhelming rush of digital sonic activity to rival that of those shoegaze giants. Elsewhere, the comparatively lo-fi closer ‘Seadrift’ stays in the water, its calming waves slowly cresting like the tides.
