Since the inception of TNGHT, and his debut album CCCLX in 2017, Lunice has been moving up with his energetic productions. OPEN capitalises on the momentum gathered in the time between albums, releasing it in a glorious, full throttle package complete with idiosyncratic sampleage, the clean, rubbery sheen of digital percussion, and the friction of heavyweight, distorted bass. Lunice is in his element here, focussing on flexibility and intuition with the brooding blocks of piano on ‘YAYAYA’ switching into solemnly angelic sequences, the playful anti-procrastination anthem of ‘Last Time’, and a smothering of sugary, twitching synths and rhythms across this future-facing album.
