Text Records have dropped the surprise unlikely linkup between ambient visionary Brian Eno and producer/vocalist Fred again.. a collaboration which label founder Four Tet sums up simply with: “it is the most beautiful album of 2023”. Unexpected it might be but the collaboration certainly serves a moving, diaristic landscape for introspection. Fans of Yves Tumor’s beatless construction for PAN’s Mono No Aware comp, through to The Weeknd’s work with Oneohtrix Point Never or even the hazy worlds of Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto or William Basinski will find much to get lost in here via layers of decayed and manipulated samples of piano and field recordings.
