Genres

Whilst the quarrels surrounding who actually invented this genre we call house will go on indefinitely, Jerome Derradji returns with another exploratory collection of early Chi-town music via his Still Music imprint. This double LP set 122 BPM – The Birth Of House Music focuses on the genres earliest known roots, starting with the late 80’s garage classic ‘Shake Your Body’ from Jeanette Thomas in addition to the tom-heavy, moody-jacker ‘I Like It (Club Mix) from Libra Libra. Chicago favourites Z-Factor also feature heavily, including their squidgy 303 number ‘I Am The DJ’ and the 1983 synth-pop cross over cut ‘(I Like To Do It In) Fast Cars’. Hugely recommended for disciples of Trax Records, D.J. International or anyone interested in the history of a much loved genre.
