With completely new material, Live At Bush Hall is an explosion of colour marking a new era for Black Country, New Road. A celebration of the band’s story so far (as the lyrics on ‘Up Song’ go, “Look at what we did together, BC, NR friends forever!”), the album is a jackpot of thrashing drums, passionate sax and vocals, and vast, sprawling baroque tapestries of flute and guitar snaking around each other. Quivering violin on ‘Laughing Song’ evolves into heavy drum crashes and guitar shreds, while ‘Turbines/Pigs’ is a naked and vulnerable piano ballad holding the room totally enraptured.
