If we are to take this latest release from Pole on the reputation of the original edition in the ‘Waldgeschichten’ series, the third and final release from the German electronic pioneer also known as Stephan Betke is bound to be a superlative lesson in restrained dub compressions. ‘Lurch’ comes submerged in gentle crackling and synth glitches, a looping drop in the ocean made for nightfall, and nightfall only. ‘Moos’ comes with less swing and takes its form with a more solid approach – faltering, minute fragments of sound that create brilliantly effective patchworks of sound.
